Ninety percent of all obese people are overweight due to inactivity. The other ten percent may be suffering from serious health problems such liver toxicity from GMO foods, underactive thyroid, and chronic fatigue syndrome; but generally speaking a lack energy and motivation to change often leads to an obese lifestyle.

According to Adam Perlman, MD, executive director of Duke Integrative Medicine, “People often put on weight from trying to comfort themselves with food.” Although there’s not a lot of research showing that meditation directly helps you lose weight, meditation helps you become more aware of your thoughts and actions, including those that relate to food such as binge eating and emotional eating.
