Reiki Healing Meditation Techniques
By Mia Randall and James Rink
Today I’m going to take a quick look at the healing meditation technique of Reiki! The word Reiki means universal energy in Japanese. This harnessed energy is transmitted from the practitioner into the recipient to help others heal emotional or physical trauma, including stress. It is also be used by the Reiki practitioner to heal themselves.
The practice was developed by Mikao Usui in 1922. The knowledge came to him during a 21 day Buddhist training course in Japan. He then moved to Tokyo and founded the ‘Usui’s Spiritual Energy Therapy Method Society’ which treated a large number of people. Those people then went on to train other people.
Reiki can generate balance between body and mind, similar to Tai Chi or Yoga. Reiki meditation combines the powers of meditation and Reiki. It can help us to clear blockages in the body and strengthen our innate abilities.
When a Reiki Meditation practitioner practices regularly, benefits can include:
Increase in ability to achieve desired outcomes (due to increase in ability to visualize positive outcomes)
Living more in harmony with the universe (eg. A book or film seems to come along at the exact time we need it)
Increase in feelings of happiness
Decrease in stress, increase in calm and focus
Here are the five principles of the Meiji Emperor that Usui Sensei said that we should contemplate in our own hearts before passing them on to others. I do love these principles! I really try to incorporate them into my daily life. I think that anyone who can master these would be a very happy and compassionate person!
Here it is:
“The secret art of inviting happiness, The miraculous medicine for all diseases. At least for today:
Do not be angry,
Do not worry,
Work with diligence,
Be kind to people.
Every morning and evening, join your hands in meditation and pray with your heart.
State in your mind and chant with your mouth.
For improvement of mind and body”
Usui Reiki Ryōhō.
Another tool I use to help increase my reiki healing abilities is the neo meditation cube. It helps pump chi energy into my left hand chakra while I use reiki with my right hand. I have had some amazing results with this method such as being able to help clients reduce back pain instantly and bringing into balance circulation of the blood.
